Back in his hometown, Ranchi, for the third ODI against Australia, India wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni arranged a royal treat for his team-mates on Wednesday.
The former captain drove Team India to his farmhouse on a Hummer — one of his luxurious cars — for a grand dinner.
Fans and supporters had gathered at the airport to welcome the local boy. As soon as the team walked out of the exit gate, Dhoni quickly stepped into his car and rolled the windows up. Kedar Jadhav sat beside him, while Rishabh Pant was trying to sneak in amid the media and well-wishers.
India skipper Virat Kohli and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal shared photographs from the evening to thank Dhoni — the host.
Earlier, the focus in the day was on the Dhoni Pavilion at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association stadium. Dhoni refused to inaugurate the stand.
“We requested him but he said ‘ Dada apne hi ghar mein kya inaugurate karna (What’s there to inaugurate in my own house). He is still so humble and down to earth," said JSCA secretary Debashis Chakraborty.
