Michael Clarke, the former Australia captain, has warned critics not to underestimate the importance of M. S. Dhoni to the Indian team.
Dhoni did not play a part in India’s defeats in Mohali and Delhi as Australia snuck in a come-from-behind series win. In his absence, Rishabh Pant kept wickets.
Clarke took to social media to underline Dhoni’s importance to the Indian team. “Never underestimate the importance of MSD — experience in the middle-order is so important,” Clarke wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
Besides his wicketkeeping skills, Dhoni is known for his keen observations of situations in a contest.
