Naman Ojha to lead India A for Australia tour

Naman Ojha, the Madhya Pradesh wicket-keeper, has been made captain of the India A side, which will play a four-day fixture and a quadrangular series in Australia in the months of August and September.

Naman Ojha, the Madhya Pradesh wicket-keeper, has been made the captain of the India A side, which will play a four-day fixture and a quadrangular series in Australia in the months of August and September. In the 15-man squad announced by the BCCI, seven members from India's squad for its recently concluded tour of Zimbabwe, were chosen alongside other domestic stalwarts.

Three months ago, Ojha, who has played a Test for India in its tour of Sri Lanka last year, led Rest of India to a stunning victory over Mumbai in the Irani Cup by chasing a mammoth 482 in the fourth innings.

Batsmen Faiz Fazal, Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, and bowlers Dhawal Kulkarni, Barinder Sran, Jaydev Unadkat and Axar Patel are the players selected from the Zimbabwe tour. Besides them, the squad comprises Ranji Trophy's leading run-scorer last season Shreyas Iyer, Mumbai's opening batsman Akhil Herwadkar, Karnataka's batsmen Manish Pandey and Karun Nair, among others.

The quadrangular series will be played alongside Australia A, South Africa A and Cricket Australia's National Performance Squad (NPS), and will be followed by a four-day game to be played between India A and Australia A. The matches will be held in the towns of Mackay and Townsville in Queensland.
