Indian leg-spinner Rahul Sharma on Sunday announced his retirement from all international and first class cricket.

“Today the day has come, I Rahul Sharma hereby announce my retirement from international and first class cricket” said the 35-year old in a statement.

Sharma has represented India in four ODIs and two T20Is. “It’s fortunate & lucky to have shared the dressing room with the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Virendra Sehwag and MS Dhoni” he added.

Sharma made his Indian Premier League debut with Deccan Chargers (now Sunrisers Hyderabad) in 2010, then represented the now defunct Pune Warriors in 2013 before moving on to play for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2014. He played a total of 44 matches in the IPL with 40 wickets towards his name.

Sharma could still be available for franchise-based exhibition tournaments. “Now I’am ready for my new innings. Looking forward for second innings as a player and for the World’s league.
