A month after failing the Yo-Yo Test, which cost him a berth in India A’s squad for England tour, Sanju Samson has salvaged his pride by clearing the fitness test with a score of 17.3. Considered one of the most athletic cricketers, the talented wicketkeeper-batsman failing the Yo-Yo test last month had taken the cricketing world by surprise.
Sanju took the test at the test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Wednesday, and cleared it with ease.
Last month, when Sanju had appeared for the test, he could only reach figures of 15.6 — lower than the set benchmark of 16.1. This was after and despite having a good outing with the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, where he scored 441 runs.
With Sanju failing the test, Ishan Kishan was named as his replacement for the India ‘A’ side.
Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor has raised question marks on the entire Yo-Yo test. Taking to Twitter, Tharoor has requested the BCCI to rethink the process.
