The SCA wants BCCI to shift the headquarters only in the event of MCA making unreasonable demands.

The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) has told the BCCI acting president C.K. Khanna that it would not be appropriate to open the subject of shifting the BCCI headquarters (from Mumbai) since matters are pending in the Supreme Court.

The SCA has also told Khanna that it is not the purview of the CoA to opine in the matter as the mandate from the Supreme Court to the CoA is to implement the Lodha Committee recommendations.

Three days ago, the BCCI acting president had sent two email-notes seeking views from members on the matter of shifting the BCCI headquarters from Mumbai to a yet-to-be-constructed NCA building in Bangalore. The BCCI had bought land near the Bangalore airport.

Eleven years ago the BCCI moved its offices from Cricket Club of India’s Stadium House room to the Mumbai Cricket Association’s swanky new premises at `D’ Road, Churchgate.

In his reply, the SCA Hon. Jt. Secretary, Madhukar Worah said: "The idea of having the headquarters in places other than Mumbai was floated many times in the past, but Mumbai was found to be most suitable and appropriate.  The BCCI has established a sizeable and modern office at the Wankhede Stadium and the same has been appreciated by everyone."

The SCA has also conveyed to Khanna that the BCCI should think of shifting the headquarters only in the event of MCA making unreasonable demands once its existing agreement with the BCCI comes to an end this month. "We are confident that the MCA will have the same terms and conditions as per the first lease agreement,’’ Worah said.
