Mitchell Johnson is considering a return to the Indian Premier League this season after leading Perth Scorchers into the Big Bash League final on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old quick took three wickets and conceded just three runs in four overs in an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Melbourne Stars at the WACA.

Johnson – Australia's fourth highest wicket-taker in Tests – was released by Kings XI Punjab after the 2016 IPL season, but is open to a return to the competition before coming back for the next BBL campaign.

"I will look at the IPL, maybe a couple little tournaments here and there," Johnson told Ten Sport . But the Big Bash next year is definitely on the cards. I just want to get through this final and play well in that as well.

"He [head coach Justin Langer] keeps it simple for me. He says, 'Go out and bowl quick'."
