As Shashank Manohar agrees to complete a full term as ICC chairman, Sportstar takes a look at his reign as chairman so far and some of the key moments in the role.

May 2016 – Manohar decides to resign as BCCI president, which post he had held from October 2015, subsequent to the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya, so that he could become the ICC Chairman. Manohar was also the ICC president from November 2015 when the BCCI nominated him to the role, divesting N. Srinivasan of the post. Manohar is elected as the first ICC chairman two days after his resignation as the BCCI president.

June 2016 – Manohar introduces the plan to diminish the control of the ‘Big Three’ in the ICC. He rolls back the financial model which favoured the Big Three - India, Australia and England - and proposes a more equitable distribution of money and revenue. Again, the BCCI opposes the move, but Manohar hits back by saying that if it is so much in favour of a performance-based model then it should first apply it in India.

September 2016 – BCCI president Anurag Thakur hits out at Manohar, comparing his decision to leave the BCCI to a captain leaving a sinking ship.

February 2017 – ICC passes the new constitution in principle, which BCCI opposes.

March 2017 – Manohar resigns as ICC chairman citing personal reasons but is persuaded by other members – both full and associate - to stay on.

April 2017 – In an ICC meeting, Manohar gets the support of more than two-thirds of the Board directors, asking him to carry on as ICC chairman. The new ICC constitution also is a step closer to implementation, after BCCI gets outvoted in the meeting. The financial model which BCCI opposed, receives overwhelming support and is passed 9-1 in favour, while the proposed governance changes to the new constitution are passed by an 8-2 margin.

May 2017 – Shashank Manohar agrees to complete full term as ICC chairman which will end in June 2018.
