The BCCI’s acting-secretary Amitabh Choudhary has sought a three-month extension in service for Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, General Manager, Game Administration. Prof. Shetty has been in-charge of women’s cricket.

On Wednesday, Choudhary conveyed to the BCCI acting-president C.K. Khanna, treasurer Anirudh Choudhry, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and IPL COO Hemang Amin that since the India-England women’s ODI series is to be played in Nagpur in April and the IPL is to start soon, “It would be of great help if an old hand remains with the BCCI just before the lean period starts. The BCCI will be well served if he remains with us for another three months. As all are aware, he has served the BCCI with great distinction. I strongly recommend that his tenure be extended until June 30, 2018.”

It is believed that Messrs Khanna and Chaudhry have responded positively to Choudhary’s proposal and that the Committee of Administrators (CoA) is also aware of the situation. Until Thursday evening, Johri and Amin have not responded to communication from Choudhary.

The CoA head Vinod Rai may have the final say.
