Former Pakistan pace spearhead Shoaib Akhtar took a half-an-hour drive from Islamabad to Bani Gala to congratulate his childhood hero, Imran Khan, who is set to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Imran’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, emerged as the single largest party in the counting post the general elections on Wednesday.

“It was great meeting him. He was very hopeful to mend Indo-Pak relations and wants to finish the trust deficit,” Akhtar told Sportstar on Thursday.
Earlier, Imran had lashed out at the Indian media for depicting him as a villain prior to the elections. On the eve of the official declaration of results, he told Akhtar how much it hurt.
“The way the media portrayed him in Indian news channels upset him. It obviously hurts. But overall, the meeting was nice. We hugged very tightly. We were very happy to see each other. He said even I have a lot of responsibility to fulfill,” he added.
