AB de Villiers has provided a timely boost for South Africa after he was included in their squad for the final three ODIs against India.

The explosive batsman was ruled out for the first three games of the six-match series after injuring his right index finger in the third and final Test against the same opponents.

In his absence, South Africa have slumped to a 3-0 deficit and have lost captain Faf du Plessis (broken finger) and Quinton de Kock (wrist) to injury.

When contacted by Omnisport, Cricket South Africa confirmed he is back in the squad, although De Villiers remains a doubt for the fourth match at the Wanderers on Saturday, and is set to be assessed when the squad meets on Friday.
