Suresh Raina hadn’t cleared the test in the first attempt.

Suresh Raina, the India batsman, has cleared the Yo-Yo test. Raina took to Instagram to announce this news. The speed and endurance test has been touted as the benchmark for a spot in the national team.

Raina had earlier failed to clear the test along with former India southpaw Yuvraj Singh, while former India speedster Ashish Nehra cleared it in the first attempt.

In the test, two sets of cones are placed 20 metres apart, creating two lines. The players have to run between the lines as the beep starts and turn once the beep becomes silent. The pace of the beep increases after every minute, so does the speed of the cricketers; those who do not make the line on time, will have to contend with more beeps.

This comes days after Raina led Uttar Pradesh to a mediocre Ranji Trophy campaign. The State team finished sixth out of seven teams in Group A, in the league phase of the competition, with three losses and two draws.

Raina then fixed his gaze on the Yo-Yo test, training at the National Cricket Academy (as admitted by him on Instagram ) in Bengaluru to overcome the hurdle.
