T20 Mumbai League: Rajesh Pawar, Paul Valthaty chosen as emerging and development Players

Paul Valthaty has been selected by Mumbai South Central of the T20 Mumbai League in the ‘Emerging and Development Players’ category.

Paul Valthaty, who came up with a champion knock of 120 for Kings XI Punjab against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) some seven years ago in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2011 in Mohali has been selected by Mumbai South Central of the T20 Mumbai League in the ‘Emerging and Development Players’ category.

Valthaty is 34 and has played five first class matches in 2011-12 and has been in the wilderness since 2013. On Saturday, Mumbai South Central found it fit to buy him for Rs.50000 in the ‘Emerging and Development Players’ category.

Left-arm spinner Rajesh Pawar has been chosen in the ‘Emerging and Development players’ category by Mumbai North. Interestingly, Pawar is 38-year-old.

MCA’s inaugural T20 league is set to start at the Wankhede Stadium on March 11 and a release said that the six franchise teams, each allowed a purse of Rs. 35 lakh, spent a total of Rs 2.03 crores.

It was mandatory upon teams to spend Rs. 30 lakh. Five teams selected 20 players each and one team went for 19. Players were selected in the category of Icon, First Class, List ‘A’, Emerging & Development Players (compulsory) and emerging & Developmental Players.
