Yashasvi Jaiswal played a gritty knock of 104 as India defeated Nepal by 171 runs in a U-19 Asia Cup fixture on Saturday.

At the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No 3 Ground, in Savar, Yashasvi, who was later adjudged the Man of the Match, showed patience, picking up the century in 113 deliveries. Crafting his innings with eight boundaries and five sixes, Yashasvi guided India to 304-9. The opening batsman also found support in P Simran Singh, who scored 82.

Chasing 305, Nepal batsmen failed to show resilience as were bundled out for 133. For India, Siddharth Ajaybhai Desai and Harsh Tyagi scalped three wickets apiece.

In other matches of the day, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by six wickets, while Afghanistan defeated UAE by five wickets.
