Vivo splurges big to win IPL title rights

Vivo won the IPL title rights bid for a five-year deal. This means, the BCCI would now earn Rs 2,199 crore from the deal. While Vivo sealed the deal, another mobile phone manufacturing company — Oppo – was the next bidder at Rs 1,430 crore.

After entering the Indian cricket scene a few years back, Vivo India has slowly made its presence felt in the circuit. Bagging rights of the Indian Premier League, the mobile phone manufacturer indicated that it would eye a longer association with Indian cricket.

On Tuesday, it won the IPL title rights bid for a five-year deal. This means, the BCCI would now earn Rs 2,199 crore from the deal. While Vivo sealed the deal, another mobile phone manufacturing company — Oppo – was the next bidder at Rs 1,430 crore.

With the two mobile phone companies steaming up the rights race, the IPL title rights have certainly hit the roof!
