Windies all-rounder Andre Russell has been ruled out of the three-match Twenty20 series against India due to injury.

The 14-man squad was announced by Cricket Windies, ahead of the first Twenty20 scheduled for Sunday.

Russell was absent from Windies’ training session on Saturday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, according to reports.

Talking about the team, Courtney Browne, the chairman of selectors, said, "Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are injured at this time. Ashley Nurse will miss both the remainder of the India tour and the Bangladesh tour as he recovers from his injury."

Russell’s last piece of cricket activity was in the Afghanistan Premier League; he played a match for Nangarhar Leopards on October 9. He was not named in the ODI squad for the five-match series in India, Windies Cricket ruling him out due to injury.
