Klopp: World class Salah needs to maintain form to be considered the best

Mohamed Salah's form for Liverpool during the ongoing season has earned him high praise.

While former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard labelled Mohamed Salah as the 'best player in the world' ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp played down such talks.

Salah scored a brace in Liverpool's 5-2 win over AS Roma in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal on Tuesday. The Egyptian has 43 goals in 47 matches this season.

"He's in the form of his life," Gerrard said on BT Sport.

"It's difficult to compare him to your Ronaldos and Messis because they've done it for so long and they've been consistent year in, year out.

"But without a shadow of a doubt he's the best player on the planet right now."

However, Klopp felt that Salah would have to sustain his form over a longer period to earn the label.
