MATCH REPORT: AFC Cup: Nasaf overwhelms ATK MB 6-0 to advance to the Inter-zone play-off finals

A masterclass of a performance by home team, FC Nasaf as it defeated ATK Mohun Bagan 6-0 to to the Inter-zonal play-off finals against Hong Kong's Lee Man.

After taking a resounding 5-0 lead the break, which included a Norchaev hat-trick, Nasaf managed to add another in the second half courtesy of substitute Narzullaev's rocket of a shot past Amrinder.

Stay tuned for the match report!!!

FULL-TIME!!! (FC Nasaf 6-0 ATKMB)

90+1' SHOT- Stanojevic's knuckle-ball attempt from the freekick proving tricky for Amrinder as the ball dipped quite late. But the keeper manages to punch it out.

THREE ADDITIONAL MINUTES!!!

88' SUBS- Kauko and Williams replaced by Abhishek Dhananjay and Kiyan Nassiri.

85' Liston completely isolated as he darts from the right flank and sends in a low ball under pressure from a Nasaf defender. The goalkeeper collects without any pressure.

83' CHANCE- A bad clearance from Amrinder gives the ball straight to a Nasaf player. It was a good lofted pass to Sadullaev who tried to take it first time on the volley but botched his shot.

81' CHANCE- Sadullaev finds himself in front of a loose ball and blasts one close range. It is cleared on the line and fortunately stay outs for ATKMB.

79' BOOKING- Sadullaev becomes the first Nasaf player to get booked in the match.

78' CHANCE- Another dangerous cross in, Kaluderovic being the intended target, but his header isn't on target and goes out for a goal kick.

75' SUB-  Bozorov and Eshumurodov are replaced by Golib Gaybullaev and Sardor Sadullaev.

71' GOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!! NASAF MAKES IT SIX!!! ITS SUBSTITUTE NAZRULLAEV!! A great run by the substitute, which was spotted by Stanojevic. Stanojevic with a defence-splitting pass as Nazrullaev makes no mistake from close range as he rifles it past Amrinder onto the roof of the net.

69' SUB- Michael Soosairaj comes on for Manvir Singh.

67' SHOT- Nasrullaev's half-volley is as wayward as it gets as the ball soars over the bar.

65' BOOKING- Ashutosh Mehta sees yellow for his late challenge on Bozorov.

64' ATK Mohun Bagan with an attacking move of substance for the first time in the second half. Krishan saw Mehta in space on the right and passed the ball to him. Mehta pinged in a cross but Ergashev collects the cross easily.

61' SUBS- Double change by FC Nasaf- Nurlulloev and Abdurakhimov comes off for Donier Narzullaev and Shohmalik Komilov

60' OFF THE POST- Bozorov cuts in from the left flank and this time opts to curl one at Amrinder's near-post. He beat the keeper but couldn't beat the woodwork.

56' Nasaf's passing game in the attacking third making it very difficult for ATKMB's backline to track their opponent's movement.

54' CHANCE- Nasrullaev with a peach of a delivery from the left to target-man Kaluderovic. His header, however, not of the same quality of the preceding cross as Amrinder gathers.

51' SUB- Sk Sahil makes way for Liston Colaco. Habas definitely not going for damage control.

50' STAT- Norchaev becomes the first player to score three goals in a single match against a Antonio Lopez Habas side since he came into Indian football

47' SHOT- Bozorov starts where he left off. A shot from outside the box, which was not on target and weak in nature. The intent is clear. More goals.

46' SUB- Hat-trick hero Norchaev makes way for Andrija Kaluderovic

SECOND HALF BEGINS!!!

Domination would be an understatement as FC Nasaf leads by five goals at half-time.

It all started with an unfortunate Pritam Kotal own goal. Any hopes of mounting a comeback by ATKMB was destroyed by Nasaf's domination throughout the half as Norchaev scored a hat-trick and Bozorov finished the half with a goal after missing an earlier penalty to make it five for Nasaf.

Stay tuned for live-action in the second half!!

HALF-TIME!!! (FC Nasaf 5-0 ATKMB)

45+2' GOOOAAAALLLLLL!!!! ITS FIVE FOR NASAF!!! BOZOROV WITH THE GOAL!! Saitov's low cross from the right flank found Bozorov, who made no mistake in tapping it in to score Nasaf's fifth.

THREE ADDITIONAL MINUTES!!!

43' MISS- Bozorov with too much weight on his shot as the ball comes off after hitting the underside of the crossbar. The rebound was headed towards Amrinder but it was weak and the ATKMB keeper having no difficulty in collecting the ball.

42' PENALTY!!!! ABDURAKHIMOV IS BROUGHT DOWN INSIDE THE BOX!!!

40' SHOT- Bozorov again terrorising from the left. A couple of stepovers and he shoots across goal. The ball flashes across Amrinder, out for a goalkick.

38' SHOT- Saibov with a floated ball towards Bozorov, who takes it down well. He cuts in from the left flank and tries to curl one past Amrinder, but the goalkeeper did well to get to grasp the ball.

35' Nasaf has previously dominated Indian side Dempo FC with scorelines of 9-0 and 4-0 respectively in 2011 (13-0 on aggregate). After a decade later, shades of the same domination. Fun fact, they became champion that year.

31' GOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!! NASAF SCORES ITS FOURTH!!! NORCHAEV SCORES HIS THIRD!! It's all too easy for Nasaf. Mozgovoy slips a great pass through Norchaev from the edge of ATKMB's penalty-area and the latter guides the ball past Amrinder to notch a brilliant hat-trick.

30' ATKMB needs a prolonged stretch of possession to maybe just calm the proceedings but Nasaf's incessant pressure is not allowing Habas' side to settle.

28' SHOT- This time it's Nurulloev, who lines a shot up but he skies it. His body shape was wrong to begin with as he was leaning back when he took the shot.

26' BOOKING- Subhasish Bose sees yellow for his reckless challenge.

25' CHANCE- Nurulloev, with a darting run on the right flank sets it up for an overlapping Saibov, who whips in a dangerous ball inside the box. All it needed was a touch to make it four for Nasaf but no one there to do the needful.

24' Habas' ATKMB, which is usually defensively compact, has totally collapsed under Nasaf;s attacking pressure. Star-striker Roy Krishna has been completely isolated up top.

21' GOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! NASAF SCORES ITS THIRD GOAL WITHIN 20 MINUTES!!! ITS NORCHAEV AGAIN!! Nasaf has decimated ATKMB's defence. It was a good ball by Nasrullayev again. The first shot was blocked by Kotal but Norchaev made no mistake in guiding the rebound past a helpless Amrinder.

17' GOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! NASAF DOUBLES ITS LEAD!!! ITS DANGER MAN NORCHAEV!! A typical poacher's goal by Norchaev as full-back Nasrullayev put in a peach of a ball from the left-flank, which found Norchaev and the striker made no mistake in guiding the ball past Amrinder.

14' Pressure mounting for ATKMB as it needs to defend another corner now.

A corner straight from the training ground- a floated delivery towards the edge of the box where a player was ready to volley but the contact was not as sweet as he would have wanted to.

12' A good run by Norchaev as he tried to find a teammate by squaring the ball from the right flank. But ATKMB's Kauko laps up the pass and clears.

10' FC Nasaf keeping an excellent shape in the back and ATKMB's limited attacking threats have been easily neutralised.

7' Nasaf's ball recovery has been top-notch till now as it is winning all the second balls in the match. Anytime ATKMB tries to take some time on the ball, Nasaf forcing the away team to lose possession.

4' GOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! NASAF TAKES THE LEAD THROUGH A CORNER!!! It was a Nasaf corner and a good delivery. Chaos inside the box as Mchugh heads the ball, which ricochets off Kotal and lands up at the back of the net.  Unfortunate to say the least.

1' SHOT- FC Nasaf wasting no time in attacking ATKMB's goal. Nasaf forward Norchaev snatches the ball and makes a dangerous run. He shoots from the edge of the box but it is a weak shot.

Match Preview

Up against a formidable opponent in unfamiliar territory, ATK Mohun Bagan will start as underdogs in its AFC Cup Inter-Zone Semi-final against FC Nasaf of Uzbekistan here on Wednesday.

ATK Mohun Bagan is without central defender Sandesh Jinghan, who has joined Croatian club Sibenik since the 1-1 draw with Bashundhara Kings, which saw the Indian side advance as South Asian Zonal champion.

Another heavyweight Hugo Boumos is also out, having been omitted from the squad to make way for Joni Kauko, a newly signed midfielder who appeared in all three of Finland’s matches at UEFA Euro 2020 earlier this year.

The 2020 Uzbekistan Super League runners-up will play the make-or-break clash in the familiar surrounds of Markaziy Stadium, a venue where it has tasted defeat just twice in 11 home matches this season, including its 3-2 win over Turkmenistan’s FC Ahal in the previous round of the continental tournament.

In contrast, ATK Mohun Bagan has had to travel via Dubai in its bid to advance to next month’s Inter-Zone Final against Lee Man FC of Hong Kong and has been out of domestic league action since March, with three AFC Cup group stage fixtures in August its only competitive action in over six months.

Despite the lack of competitive preparation matches, Antonio Lopez Habas’ side hopes to make up for it in talent and ambition.

The star attacking duo of Roy Krishna and David Williams have travelled after combining for three of the team’s six goals in the group stage, while goalkeeper Amrinder Singh will be aiming to build on a positive start to life at ATK Mohun Bagan.

Fans of the Kolkata-based side will, at the very least, be expecting a far better result than the last Indian team to venture to Karshi for an AFC Cup clash, with Dempo suffering a 9-0 defeat in the group stage back in 2011.

Nasaf is match fit, focused and in form. Chasing the trophy, a decade after the club won it in 2011, the settled nature of Ruzikul Berdiev’s outfit is underlined by the fact there are no changes to the squad which successfully navigated the Central Asian Zonal Final last month.

Serbian duo of Marko Stanojevic and Andrija Kaluđerovic -- both goal scorers against Ahal -- may be well known to fans from outside Uzbekistan, but Nasaf’s strength lies in their deep pool of young local talent, with Sherzod Nasruallev, Khusayin Norachaev, Akmal Mozgovoy and Khusniddin Alikulov all under 25, and all influential in the competition so far.

Berdiev’s charges have proved impossible to contain in Asia this season, averaging 67 per cent of possession and 21 shots at goal per outing over its four fixtures and scoring multiple goals in every match.

The winner of the tie will face Hong Kong's Lee Man in the Inter-zonal play-off finals ahead of the AFC Cup grand finale.
