Bengaluru FC on Thursday announced a 28-member reserve side, known as Bengaluru FC ‘B’, for the 2017-18 season.

The side, containing mostly U-23 players, will take part in the AIFF's Second Division League, the BDFA Super Division League, and other all-India tournaments. The team also includes Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Daniel Lalhlimpuia, both of whom are currently not part of BFC's Indian Super League (ISL) squad but involved in the club's AFC Cup campaign. Their presence in the reserve team will help them get game-time. That match-sharpness will be vital in case they are drafted into BFC's ISL squad as replacements at a later stage.

BFC 'B' has seven players from the India U-19 set-up and two graduates of BFC's residential academy in Ballari, Leon Augustine and Prashanth Kalinga. The team will be coached by AFC Pro-License holder Naushad Moosa.

“It is very important to have a reserve side in a club. With Bengaluru FC ‘B’, there’s a platform for youngsters to improve their game while rubbing shoulders with the established stars and getting a ton of competitive action at the same time,” he said.
