Bengaluru FC (BFC) Head Coach Albert Roca's long-standing association with Carles Cuadrat came to an end recently, when Cuadrat quit his assistant coach post due to health concerns.

In Marc Huguet, Roca believes that he has found the ideal replacement. “Marc is a good professional, and he is a good friend of mine,” Roca said here on Friday.

Much like Roca, Huguet has spent a good number of years at FC Barcelona. For around six years, Huguet worked as an assistant coach and physical trainer at the famed Barcelona youth academy. He has also served as an assistant coach at FC Dinamo Tbilisi (Georgian first division), Cordoba CF (Spanish La Liga) and RCD Mallorca (Spanish Segunda Division).

“At the Barca youth academy, I got the chance to train some terrific players like Sergio Busquets, Thiago Alcantara, Rafinha, Bojan, Marc Bartra and Jonathan dos Santos. You could see that their future was bright, and that they would make it to the first team,” Huguet said.

At BFC, Huguet’s predecessor Cuadrat had established himself as a master of planning set-piece goals. It will take time for Huguet to find his niche.

“Huguet can fulfill multiple roles. He has the same background as me, so he was a good fit. I trust him, which will make it easy for us to work together,” Roca explained.
