Andre Schurrle's agent has ruled out a loan switch for the Borussia Dortmund forward to Bundesliga basement boys Cologne.

The start of Schurrle's 2017-18 campaign has been ruined by a thigh injury but he returned to action as a second-half substitute in this week's 5-0 DFB Pokal win over Magdeburg.

Dortmund head coach Peter Bosz has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal, meaning regular action might not be easily obtained by the Germany forward ahead of next year's World Cup.

Cologne is winless after nine games of the Bundesliga season and has only scored three goals.

Reinforcements during the January transfer window would appear to be a must but Schurrle's representative Ingo Haspel insists the 26-year-old will not be a part of that conversation.

"There is no offer for a loan from Cologne," he told RevierSport, in response to a story published by Kicker on Thursday.

"This story belongs to the realms of fables."

Dortmund is top of the Bundesliga on goal difference ahead of rival Bayern Munich but travels to Hannover on Saturday without a win in its previous two league matches.
