The Calcutta Football League 2019 title will be decided on Sunday (September 29) as three title contenders — Peerless, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan — will play for title glory.
Mohun Bagan faces Kalighat at the Mohun Bagan ground, while East Bengal will play Calcutta Customs. Peerless, which currently leads the league standings, will face George Telegraph.

Peerless has 20 points and tops the league standings on the basis of a greater goal difference (+11) than East Bengal (+7), which is second. Mohun Bagan is fourth on the table, with 17 points.
Third-placed Mohammedan Sporting, with 19 points, is out of contention having played all its matches.
- Scenario for each of the three title contenders -
A win for Peerless will seal the CFL 2019 title if East Bengal drops points, or if East Bengal wins and scores fewer goals than Peerless.
However, if Peerless fails to win, it will again have to depend on East Bengal. If Peerless draws and East Bengal wins, East Bengal will be the winner. In case of both East Bengal and Peerless drawing or losing at the same time, the goal difference will decide the winner.
Mohun Bagan is in a must-win situation. It must win by a big margin and hope that East Bengal and Peerless lose their respective matches.
If Peerless wins the tournament it will break the dominance of the two city giants. Mohammedan Sporting was the last team to outsmart the city giants and win the title in 1981, after which the local supremacy has always remained with the big two.
East Bengal is the most successful team in CFL with 39 titles, followed by Mohun Bagan with 30.
