With two goals in the first half and one from young Musiala, Bayern Munich finish the match with a comfortable win with Xavi's Barcelona now in the Europa League after a night to forget at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

Alba injures himself while clearing the ball on the follow up and is attended by the medical team and he is forced out with an injury

26' Pavard to Upamecano to Sane and Davies is dispossessed shortly after he gets the ball. Araujo wins the duel and wins a throw

24' Depay and Upamecano collide for a header and the Dutchman is on the ground, who eventually gets up with limps. In the other game, Benfica is already a goal up and if the match remains like this till full-time, Barcelona will be out of UCL

21' Miss! Barcelona take control of the ball, with Dembele taking control of the ball, passing it to Depay, who gives it back to Dembele, but he shoots off-target

20' Dembele crosses the ball in, which is cleared out comfortably by Davies, and as Muller and Lewandowski try and build an attack, they see no one to chase the ball and get the ball back to Neuer

18' Chance! Bayern makes a run with Muller running from an off-side position, but as the game is allowed to go on, the attack fizzles out with his pass missing any receiver

16' Yellow Card! The second booking for Barcelona as Araujo brings down Alphonso Davies, who was making a run into the box

15' In the last 12 meetings, Bayern has won eight and Barcelona two. The Catalan side has never won in Munich against Bayern. In the meantime, Dembele tried to cut in from the left, but is stopped by Upamecano, who forces a corner.

The corner leads to a set piece attempt, with the ball dropping for Araujo, but he was ruled off-side

12' Coman's corner is headed away, while the attack that follows is ruled off-side.

9' Chance! Dembele makes a run on the left, goes past the Bayern defence, but his cross is missed by Dest and Bayern get back on its attack

7' Shot! Jordi alba takes a shot from outside the box and Neuer catches it comfortably. Barca has looked god, with this being the first shot of Barcelona in the game, on target

6' Araujo tries to give a through bal along the right flank but Alphonso Davies intercepts it to go out for a throw

5' Leroy Sane takes the free-kick which is blocked by the wall, but Busquets is down and might need medical attention and he is helped out of the field. This might be a big blow for Barca, but fortunately, he gets back on his feet.

3' Yellow Card! A mistake by Ter Stegen gives the ball to Lewandowski, who is tackled down by Busquets who, gets into the  book early on in the game

2' Barcelona on the attack from the beginning with a long throw, which is deflected out. Bayern has every Barca player marked close to the box for now

1:30 am: Kick off! Bayern Munich, in its signature maroon, starts from right to left with Barcelona, in yellow, starting from the other end.

1:27 am: The players walk out of the tunnel and the stage is set for an exciting contest for a Barcelona that needs the win desperately against a Bayern Munich, which stops at nothing for goals

1:15 am: In the other matches that took place, Chelsea was held to a 3-3 draw by Zenit St. Petersburg, while Manchester United gears up for its first Champions League match under Ralf Rangnick.

Juventus , with Chelsea's draw and a Kean winner in the 18th minute, went on top of Group H with 15 points.

1:00 am: 30 Minutes to Kick Off!

The players have arrived in the stadium and are warming up on the field. Xavi has decided to go with a 4-3-3 formation while Bayern will go with its 4-2-3-1 formation, led by Robert Lewandowski in the front.

Barcelona faces the threat of not qualifying for the Champions League knockouts for the first time since the 2000-01 season when it faces the already-qualified Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Thursday.

Barcelona is second in the Group E table with seven points while Bayern tops the group with 15 points. Benfica is on five points while Dynamo Kyiv is out of contention with just one point after five matches.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann has said that he will be without players, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Cuisance and Marcel Sabitzer.

It is an exciting night in Group E football with Barcelona and Benfica battling for the qualification spot. Following are the scenarios regarding Barcelona's qualification chances.

  • If Barcelona defeats Bayern, it will reach 10 points in six games. In this case, it does not need to depend on Dynamo Kyiv beating Benfica for qualification. 
  • If Barcelona loses to Bayern but Benfica also loses to Dynamo Kyiv, Barcelona will qualify. 
  • If Barca loses to Bayern and Benfica wins against Dynamo Kyiv, then Benfica will qualify. 
  • If Barcelona draws its match and Benfica wins, then both teams will be eight points but Benfica will qualify based on head-to-head.
  • If Barcelona draws and Benfica loses, then the Catalan club will be through to the Round of 16.
