European cold wave hits sports hard

Association football in England including the Premier League was hit hard due to heavy snowfall.

The League One fixture between Accrington Stanley and Blackpool scheduled for kick off on Saturday was called off due to freezing weather overnight. Accrington called for volunteers to help clear the snow and get the pitch ready for the game but their efforts ended in vain.

Liverpool played a 1-1 draw against Leciester City at home in the Premier League in which the playing conditions were affected by snow. The Reds boss Jurgen Klopp felt his side struggled to get all three points because of the snow on the pitch.
