Francisco Gonzalez’s 58th minute penalty conversion helped Mohun Bagan beat Indian Navy 1-0 and complete its Group B engagements with an all-win record in the 2019 Durand Cup football tournament at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan stadium here on Saturday.

The Mariners gathered nine points after securing three wins on the trot.

Having sealed its semifinal spot ahead of the match, Bagan launched a barrage of attacks to pose constant threat on the Navy post.

Nongdamba Naorem and Subho Ghosh were in the thick of action for Bagan but the youngsters could not breach the Navy defence, efficiently guarded by keeper Bhaskar Roy.

Navy’s Dalraj Singh brought down Sheikh Faiaz to concede a penalty and Gonzalez made no mistake to score the all-important goal just before an hour’s play.

Indian Navy has managed to get only one point from its three group matches.
