If the El Clasico isn’t your cup of tea, the big game at the Etihad Stadium between Manchester City and Liverpool is the match for you.

Saturday’s game in Manchester will be the second big test for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. He aced the first challenge at Stamford Bridge with flying colours, comprehensively beating Chelsea 3-1 on October 31.

Both the teams are on the back off not very favourable results from previous league outings. Manuel Pellegrini’s City failed to score at Villa Park, drawing 0-0 against last-placed Aston Villa. Liverpool were bullied 2-1 at Anfield against a resurgent Crystal Palace.

Raheem Sterling will play against Liverpool for the fisr time since his summer move to City.

The match will also see players facing former employers. Daniel Sturridge, if fit, will be facing his former club Manchester City, while it will be a debut against Liverpool for Raheem Sterling, who made the GBP49 million summer move across the north under acrimonious circumstances.

Injury updates

Manchester City’s talisman Sergio Aguero may feature in the game but midfield maestro David Silva and skipper Vincent Kompany are ruled out. Fabian Delph and Pablo Zabaleta have also trained this week. However, it is bad news for Samir Nasri, as he has been ruled out till February with a hamstring injury.

For the away side, centre back Mamadou Sakho is ruled out and Dejan Lovren is expected to slot in. English duo Jordon Ibe and James Milner are fit to play despite missing out on national colours. Sturridge has not played under new manager Klopp and has put in a paltry 242 minutes on the pitch all season courtesy hip and knee injuries. He will face a late fitness test but Klopp has said he is “fit and ready to go.”
