Mesut Ozil is on the verge of signing a bumper new deal to extend his stay at Premier League side Arsenal.

According to the British tabloid The Sun , the German playmaker is happy to commit his future to the north London side beyond this season. He is reportedly set to sign a £280,000-a-week contract, making him the highest paid player at the club.

The 28-year-old is on the last year of his current contract having signed from Real Madrid in 2013. Arsenal will not be playing in the Champions League next term for the first time in 21 years.
