Full-time. A humiliating opening day for the Hammers as City runs riot. A five star start from the champion! Raheem Sterling carries on his form from last season with a hat-trick. Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero also among the goals.

90' + 4' Chicharito's free-kick from range goes over the bar...

90' + 2'  GOAL for City! 5-0! Hat-trick for Sterling as he finishes Mahrez's through ball with ease. The home crowd is running for the exit.

Five minutes of added time.

90' Gundogan splits Hammers' defence qwith a through ball but Sterling can't race on to it to complete his hat-trick. Fabianski is off his line to collect the ball.

89' Haller is flagged offside on the left side.

88' Sterling hits his pass long as he tries to find Foden on the left.

Yellow card for Walker for a foul.

86' GOAL for City! Fabianski goes for the same direction but Aguero goes the other way and opens his account for season. City hits West Ham for a four again at the London Stadium!

84' SAVED! Fabianski dives right to make the save but replays show Fabianski has both his feet off the line before Aguero takes the kick. And there was an infringement by Declan Rice. VAR says the penalty should be retaken.

83' Fabianski with a costly give away to Mahrez outside the area. Mahrez is checked inside the box by Diop and is penalised by Dean for a penalty! It's Aguero who is going to take it. Not Sterling.

Big season ahead for Foden, who was described by Guardiola as the most talented player he has seen in both his playing and managerial career.

Double change for City: De Bruyne, Silva go off. Gundogan, Foden come on

79' Sterling feeds de Bruyne who in turn tried to tee up Aguero inside the box but the ball is cut out.

What a huge moment in the game the Ederson double save was before Sterling's second. The third goal should seal all three points for City.

75' GOAL for City! Mahrez clips the ball over to find Sterling, who takes a touch and chips the ball over Fabianski to find the net. VAR check and the goal stands! Another marginal call! Second goal of the match for Sterling.

73' Double save from Ederson! A cross from the right side meets Chicharito's thigh from six yards out which Ederson pushes out with his right hand. Lanzini then heads the loose ball back at goal which requires the Brazilian to put in a sprawling dive to deny WHU a goal!

71' Fredericks' cross from the right flank is cut out before it finds a WHU attacker.

70' West Ham works the ball well down the left channel as Lanzini hangs a cross over Ederson's head which requires Zinchenko to head away from danger.

City's first change: Jesus off, Aguero on

City legend Aguero gets his shirt on and is ready to go.

66' KdB whips in a cross from the right but it's over Sterling and goes out for a WHU throw in.

Third and last sub for WHU: Anderson off, Chicharito on

63' Anderson catches Laporte as the center back goes for a clearance. Laporte gos down clutching his leg! Dean books the West Ham attacker. The home crowd is dismayed by the decision.

Yellow card for Fabian Balbuena.

60' Chance for Diop! An outswinging cross from Snodgrass which Dip heads narrowly over the bar! Ederson was in no man's land.

60' Mahrez fouls Cresswell on the left flank. Free kick for West Ham.

58' Clean challenge from Diop! Sterling is through on goal but Diop catches up and puts in a challenge to deny him a clean shot on goal.

Second change for WHU: Wilshere off, Snodgrass on

54' GOAL for City! 3-0! A easy as that! Silva and Sterling cut through West Ham before the the England winger squares the ball to Jesus to tap the ball into the net. VAR check and Sterling is marginally offside! The goal is chalked off! Huge roar from the home crowd while the City players are incensed!

52' GOAL for City! 2-0! De Bruyne picks the ball up in midfield and drives past his marker before playing in Sterling free on the left. The winger takes a touch before slotting it past an onrushing Fabianski for City's second.

Gundogan, Aguero and Bernardo Silva warming up on the sidelines for City.

50' Zinchenko cuts in a high cross into the box which Sterling tries to head into goal but is cut out by Fabianski.

48' Sustained possession for City as it camps in West Ham's half which ends with KdB pinging a ball out of play trying to spot Walker on the right.

46' City gets the second half underway and play the ball out of trouble from the back brilliantly.

Change for West Ham at the break. Antonio goes off and is replaced by new signing Pablo Fornals Malla. Can he spark a comeback?

SECOND HALF

West Ham did well in the last 10 minutes with possession but without any cutting edge. City had plenty of opportunity to add to its goal but wasn't able to find the right final passes inside West Ham's box.

The referee blows the whistle for half-time and City goes with a goal's advantage.

One minute of added time.

45' Antonio chips the ball over City's defence to find Haller's run but the assistant flags him offside just as he controls the ball inside the box.

43' Rodri gets a talking to from referee Mike Dean after he clatters into Wilshere. That's his second foul in the last three minutes.

42' Sterling is caught offside as David Silva tries to play him in behind West Ham's defence.

38' De Bruyne links up well with Zinchenko and David Silva to move inside West Ham's box. He unleashes a shot at goal which is collected by Fabianski.

35' Haller gets a bouncing ball inside City's box but doesn't fully complete his overhead kick as the ball safely goes into the hands of Ederson.

32' Superb tackle by Zinchenko inside his own box! Lanzini doesn't control Antonio's pass which allows the City left back to put in the sliding tackle to get the ball away. VAR check on Antonio for a flailing arm on Rodri in the build up to the move. No foul called.

3 1' Some meaty challenges flying around which livens up the West Ham crowd.

29' Walker this time spots Mahrez's run, whose cross to Jesus is cut out by Fabianski!

28' City has found its groove now. They are creating chance after chance which sees West Ham requiring to put in last ditch efforts to deny City a shot at goal.

25' GOAL for City! Another well worked move from City sees Mahrez release Walker down the right channel. West Ham can't deal with Walker's pace, who whips in a low cross which is turned in by Jesus at the near post! City is up and running for the title defence.

23' Anderson spots Wilshere's run on the right but the central midfielder doesn't sort his feet out and the ball bounces off his him and goes out for a goal-kick.

21' What a chance for City! Mahrez is set up by de Bruyne on the right, Mahrez checks inside before rifling the ball hard against the side netting! Guardiola isn't impressed.

18' A great opportunity for West Ham on the counter, but Antonio is muscled off the ball by Laporte outside City's box.

15' Mahrez, again, cuts in from the right and sets up Silva, who drills a shot into the near post which goes wide.

14' Jesus fouls Wilshere from behind and the free-kick goes West Ham's way. De Bruyne cuts out the free-kick but loses the ball. Antonio's cross from the tight side is wide off the mark and doesn't hurt City.

12' Haller links up with Anderson to release the Brazilian on the right, whose low cross is cut out by Laporte.

9' Mahrez cuts in from the right and unleashes a shot from distance, Fabianski puts in the dive to stop the ball from going in!

6' City brilliantly bring the ball out from the back but Sterling's cross is cut out on the left touchline. West Ham hits City on the counter and Lanzini goes down inside the opposition area. No penalty though.

4' West Ham presses high led by Wilshere, after he had lost the ball with a poor first touch, and the home crowd roars them on! English football is well and truly back...

2' Walker leaves one on West Ham skipper Cresswell's face. He is okay to continue after the referee checks on him.

1' West Ham kicks off and the ball is booted out for a throw in on the left side.

The pre-match hand shakes are done. The bubbles are out at the London Stadium. The excitement of the new Premier League season is palpable among the home crowd. Can the Hammers start with a bang?

Pep Guardiola on today's opposition in the pre-match interview: "They sign good players. Manuel (Pellegrini) is an experienced manager, his team always play in proper style. It's the first game, and it's away which is tricky. We are trying to focus on the way we play and improve from here."

It's a big start to another new season for West Ham's Jack Wilshere. He started just four games last seaosn and has had a long history of injuries which have blighted his career. He will be hoping to start on the right foot and have a full season. He will start alongside Declan Rice for the first time in midfield.

It's an interesting selection up front from Pep Guardiola by opting Riyad Mahrez for Bernardo Silva, who was one of the side's best player last season. No debut for full-back Cancelo, he starts on the bench.

Title challenger Liverpool has laid the marker in the season-opener last night by beating Norwich City 4-1 at Anfield. It's a slightly tricky proposition for the champion City, which must try to get the ball rolling at West Ham.
