FIFA President Infantino's arrival comes at crucial time as the country prepares to host the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.

Gianni Infantino, the recently elected president of world football's governing body (FIFA), will visit India in September. He is scheduled to land in Goa on September 27.

"Infantino will be in Goa to attend the AFC Extraordinary Congress," said AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das to Sportstar.

The Extraordinary Congress, agreed by the AFC Executive Committee chaired by AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa in Mexico City, will elect the three additional AFC members to the FIFA Council, one of whom shall be a female member.

Infantino's arrival comes at crucial time as the country prepares to host the Under-17 World Cup in 2017. But Das was non-committal about the purpose of visit.

"We have had multiple meetings with him (Infantino) regarding the World Cup and the major motive behind his visit is the Extraordinary Congress. It has nothing to do with the World Cup," said Das.

Even though AIFF hasn't revelead the full details of Infantino's visit, it is believed that President will also attend the final of the AFC U-16 tournament which will take place in Goa.
