France U-17 head coach Lionel Rouxel said Kylian Mbappe is a role model for all the country's youth footballers. The 18-year-old, a product of the venerable Clairefontaine Academy, has all the qualities that a successful player should acquire, said Rouxel.
“The [right] example is Mbappe. I think he has a good mentality, a [good] family, and he is a secure [individual]. He likes training, he likes to play, likes to win, loves everything in and around the football field,” said Rouxel.
On France being able to win the U-17 & U-20 World Cup only once despite having a robust grass-root structure, Rouxel said it doesn't matter as the objective of the system is to train the players to the senior team. "Because they are young. You can't win always. You can have a good generation [of players] and you can win. The most important thing is to prepare them for the senior National team," he added.
