Serbia took a 1-0 lead in the first half against Switzerland, thanks to a fifth minute header from Aleksandar Mitrovic in Kaliningrad Stadium. In an entertaining forty five minutes, Switzerland had more attempts on the goal but were repeatedly denied by the Serbian defenders.
The Swiss had their best chance in the 30th minute when Serbian keeper denied Blerim Dzemaili from close range after the striker was put through by Steven Zuber. Serbia clearly had more success going forward after they managed three shots on target compared to Switzerland's one.
