The next Gulf Cup, which was due to kick off in December in Basra in Iraq, was postponed by a year due to a congested calendar, organisers announced.

The competition, which features teams from eight Gulf states, had been due to run from December 24 until January 7 but will now be held in January 2023.

The decision was announced following a meeting of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation's executive board on Monday.
