East Bengal is cashing in on the success of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

East Bengal will promote its home matches by distributing free tickets to women and school children to cash in on the football fever generated by the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

“The World Cup has been an eye-opener. We hope to bring in more women fans and school children to the stadium to popularise the sport. So we have thought about giving out complimentary tickets,” East Bengal top official Debabrata Sarkar said here on Saturday.

The club is also trying to organise public transportation and provide complimentary refreshments to VIP ticket holders for the I-League that is slated to kick off later this month.

India hosted its first ever FIFA event last month.
