Former Odisha football captain Kedar Nath Singh succumbed to an on-field injury on Monday.
Playing for Club 73 at a state level tournament at Sharankul, which is around 100km from here, stopper Kedar, who was in his early 30s, had a collison with a rival player from Odisha Police team two days ago. He got hit in his rib cage area.
After being initially treated at a local hospital, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Kedar was scheduled to undergo a surgery but breathed his last early on Monday.
