Denying reports that he had joined as the talent director of Premier Futsal, former India captain Baichung Bhutia clarified to Sportstar that he has not taken a decision yet.
“I have an offer from Premier Futsal but nothing has been finalised as of now. I have also not resigned from the AIFF,” said Bhutia, who is currently the advisor to the AIFF president Praful Patel.
Interestingly, the organisers had earlier sent a press release with a quote from the former India captain . But later, when contacted, Premier Futsal’s Managing Director, Dinesh Raj, said that no contract has been signed yet. “We have offered Baichung a position of talent director. We have had some fruitful discussions but no contract has been signed yet.”
The Premier Futsal, is a five-a-side football tournament promoted by Luis Figo. The league, which had some of the major international players in the ranks, ran into rough weathers in its first season with the AIFF refusing to recognise it. However, continuing with the strange world of Indian sports, union sports minister Vijay Goel had inaugurated the second edition of the league, earlier this year.
