Sankarlal Chakraborty has stepped down as the head coach of Mohun Bagan following the team's 2-1 loss to Real Kashmir in an I-League match here on Sunday.
Chakraborty informed the club management about his decision. “I have conveyed the officials that I want to resign. I feel I am not being able to turn around the team,” said Chakraborty after Sunday's match.
In a statement, Bagan said, “We understand and respect his decision. The club management accepts his decision and would like to thank him for all the success and hard work he has done being in charge of the senior team. We wish him all success for his future endeavours.”
The club will name a new head coach shortly.
