With an eye on their first win of the season, Shillong Lajong FC will look to bounce back, when they host Goan outfit Salgaocar FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium here tomorrow.

After having drawn one and lost one match so far, Lajong are looking for their first win and will be banking their hopes on the strikers, who will need to fulfil their goal scoring duties.

The team has also been weak in defence and need to ensure that they do not concede early goals.

Yusuke Yamagata, the Japanese defender, will look to make his debut tomorrow after recovering from an illness and his presence could add experience to the back-line.

The two Brazilian strikers Uilliams and Fabio need to pull up their socks and find their scoring touch at the earliest as the team really needs to score goals in order to collect three full points.

The stakes are high for the team looking to better their standings in the league. The team morale has to be boosted up as well and take home advantage in tomorrow’s match.

Coach Thangboi Singto said, “If we don’t score we won’t get points as goals make you win matches. I believe in my foreign strikers and goals will need to come sooner.”

“Pressure is the same whether you’re playing at home or away,” he said.

The weather in Shillong has been increasingly cold too and the home team has to make full use of the situation.

Malcolm Thomson, the Salgaocar coach, said, “We have played the three top teams in India and things did not go according to plan. We are taking time to gel as a unit and are conceding early goals too. We have to ensure that it does not happen tomorrow.”

Salgaocar have a well-balanced squad and will be banking on their in-form striker Darryl Duffy.
