The Chennai City Football Club, which was established in 1946 as Nethaji Sports Club, has been awarded a direct entry into the I-League for the 2016-17 season.
It is after 12 years that a Chennai-based club has gained entry into the league. Indian Bank RC was the last team from the city to play in the I-league in the 2003-04 season.
CCFC will play its five home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
The following are the dates for the matches:
CCFC vs Minerva Punjab on January 8, vs Mohun Bagan on January 21, vs Aizawl on January 28, vs Mumbai FC on February 11, and vs Churchill Brothers on February 14.
