Two key Mohun Bagan officials, who handled football operations of the club, stepped down from their posts here on Monday. In the backdrop of Bagan finishing third in the I-League and failing to win title for the third successive year, assistant secretary Srinjoy Bose and finance secretary Debashis Dutta resigned from their posts.
They alleged that there was lack of cooperation from club secretary (Anjan Mitra).
"This is not an overnight decision. We have been thinking of it for four years now. We have not found a solution and the situation has worsened," Bose said at a press conference.
Dutta said the club management now had a lot of time to re-build the side. “We have recently pruned the squad to 25 and they will leave for Bhubaneswar on March 19 (for Super Cup). They (Bagan officials) have a lot of time to prepare a champion squad for next season," said Dutta, who previously resigned from his post on a few occasions only to be re-instated within days.
It is learnt that the club management is yet to decide on Bose and Dutta’s resignations.
