Football legends Luis Figo and Ryan Giggs painted a rosy picture ahead of the Premier Futsal Season 2 with an announcement of 27 matches in three cities.

The feature of the league this year is the LaunchPad initiative which provides amateur players to auditions and get selected for the city’s team.

LaunchPad is created, developed and produced to scout five local players for each of the participating city-teams from a pool of over 2000 participants. The talent hunt registration begins from March 10 and is open to applicants between 18 to 30 years of age.

According to the organisers of the league, the shortlisted players will undergo rigorous training at a three to five-day camp in their respective cities, where they will be evaluated for physical fitness, mental agility and technical attributes like flair, positioning, dribbling, passing and tackling.

On the venture, Figo said, “My association with Premier Futsal has been a special one. We were able to unearth some very promising, young players.”

The AIFF added, “The Federation plans to start its own futsal tournament this year along with its marketing partner Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL). In this regards, the Federation has also written to the Asian Football Confederation for support in structuring a National Futsal tournament to be launched this year.”
