Former Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldinho landed at the city airport on Wednesday night, to a very warm welcome, as he is scheduled to take part in the inaugural season of Premier Futsal that will take place in Chennai and Goa.
Earlier on the same day, Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, and former Argentina star Hernan Crespo also arrived in Chennai for the event that will kick-off on Friday. The stars were spotted at the Chennai International airport on Wednesday morning.

The Brazilian will captain the Goa-based side while Giggs, Crespo and Scholes will lead Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru teams respectively. Futsal star Falcao will captain the Chennai side while former Real Madrid player Michel Salgado will lead Kochi.

The six teams have been divided into two groups with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinal stage. The final will be held in Goa on July 24.
Group A consists of the teams from Chennai, Mumbai and Kochi. The Chennai franchise is owned by Chennai City Futsal Club LLP, while car designer Dilip Chhabria has bought the Mumbai outfit.
Goa, Kolkata and Bangalore make up the teams in Group B. Grassroot Entertainment Pvt Ltd., headed by Bengali actor Jeet, is the owner of the Kolkata franchise, while Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar owns the team from Bangalore. The Goan team is owned by actor Sachiin Joshi and Viking Media and Entertainment Pvt Ltd.
