The Indian national team has reached Guwahati for the return leg of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier. It will face Laos on June 7 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati.

The Men in Blue go into the game with a one goal advantage, as Jeje’s strike proved to be the difference when the two teams met in Laos. Reflecting on the first leg, Head Coach Stephen Constantine said, “We went there (Laos) for a purpose. We have achieved an away win though I feel we should have done better.”

He said that the team will now focus on the second leg, “We now focus on the return leg and need to finish it off,” he added. He didn’t divulge any plans for the second leg and said, “It is too early to predict changes in the starting line-up for the 2nd leg. Everyone has a job to do, right from the players on the pitch to the bench.”

He also appreciated the work of the support staff, “In such a hectic schedule you always turn to your support staff. The medical staff - Gigi George and Sreejith Kamal - have just been excellent,” Constantine added

Jeje, whose strike was the difference in the first leg, said, “Everyone of us has a responsibility and we need to carry it out”

The Mizo striker downplayed his contribution and said, “It feels nice to have scored in the 1st leg, but I was just doing my job.”
