Spanish striker Daniel Segovia has joined Bengaluru FC on a short-term deal, it was announced here on Thursday. The 32-year-old, who last played for Neftchi Baku in the Azerbaijan Premier League, replaces the injured Braulio Nobrega in the squad and will remain at BFC till the end of the season.

Segovia began his career at Rayo Vallecano, for whom he turned out in the Spanish second division. After stints at other sides up and down the leagues, he moved to St. Polten in the Austrian second tier. Segovia scored 29 times in 48 appearances for the side before joining Admira Wacker in the Austrian first division.

“It’s a big step as it’s my first club in Asia, but at the same time I have heard a lot of good things about BFC,” he said after his first full training session with BFC.

"The presence of other Spanish players has helped me settle in. When I was at Zaragoza in the reserve team, Edu Garcia was with the youth setup and it was nice to catch up with him as well.”

Bengaluru FC head coach Albert Roca said: “With Braulio out for the rest of the season, we needed a striker. Segovia is experienced and fits into that role."
