Hyderabad FC returned to winning ways, thumping Odisha FC 6-1 to record its biggest ever victory in the Indian Super League at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Tuesday.

Two goals from Ogbeche in the first half set the tone for the Nizams, as they climbed to second on the table, only a point short of leader Mumbai City FC after eight games.

Manolo Marquez had made two changes from the last game with Nim Dorjee Tamang making his debut for the side, while Odisha FC made four changes, bringing back Sahil Panwar, who had been out with an ankle injury.

Hyderabad earned an initial lead in the ninth minute courtesy an own goal. A Joao Victor header snuck into the net off Odisha defender Hector Rodas.

Kiko Ramirez’s men did not sit back and earned a corner soon enough, which saw them draw level with a Juanan own goal in the 16th minute.

Garcia and Ogbeche paired up to end the deadlock in the 39th minute, with the Nigerian doubling his and Hyderabad’s goal tally with a beautiful header from Garcia’s corner kick, ending the first half at 2-1 for Marquez’s men.

It was a Hyderabad FC show in the second half. Edu Garcia opened the scoring this time, scoring his first goal in Hyderabad colours with a sublime left-foot-finish in the 54th minute.

At the hour mark, Ogbeche shuffled across to bury the ball into the net and hand HFC a three-goal cushion.

As Odisha’s defence ran out of answers, Juanan got his moment of redemption as he assisted Javier Siverio for the fifth goal. The substitute got onto the scoresheet within four minutes of coming on to the pitch.

The HFC captain Joao Victor provided the cherry on top as he scored from the spot in the 86th minute to make it 6-1 for HFC at full time.

Odisha FC had a few positive takeaways. It came close to scoring in the 20th minute only to be denied by Hyderabad 'keeper Laxmikant Kattimani. He later went on to save Aridai Cabrera’s free kick in the 90th minute.

Its defence, however, was no match to Marquez’s men, who desecrated a side he had hailed to have had the best foreigners this year.

With the win, Hyderabad extended its invincible run to seven games, while Odisha FC suffered its third loss in four fixtures, putting more pressure on the head coach as the side remains seventh on the table, with ten points off eight games.
