Post-match comments!!

Back-to-back wins by the Kerala Blasters as Ivan Vukomanovic's men have scored three past Chenniayin's stubborn defence without reply.

Starting the second half with a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals by Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Sahal Abdul Samad, the Blasters found their third when Adrian Luna scored his first goal for the club in prime fashion in the 79th-minute.

Chennaiyin FC tried to create openings but it was just not its day as Kerala dominated the overall proceedings of the match.

The win takes Kerala Blasters to third while Chennaiyin FC finds itself sixth on the table.

Full-time (Chennaiyin FC 0-3 Kerala Blasters)!!

90+2' Chance- Vincy with a chance to have an immediate impact as he gets a clear header from a KBFC corner. The player misjudges it completely and botches his effort.

90+1' KBFC Subs- Vincy Barretto and Sandeep Singh replace Luna and Khabra.

Three additional minutes!!

88' Edwin tries to find Thapa with a long diagonal but it was is heavy for the CFC skipper.

86' Shot- Rahim Ali takes a first-time shot from distance but is is nowhere near the target.

82' CFC Sub- Rahim Ali replaces Narayan.

79' GOOAAALL!!!! ITS THREE FOR KERALA!! ITS LUNA!! What a way to score your first goal in the ISL. A nice cut back finds Luna at the edge of the CFC box and he shoots it first time at the far-post in prime fashion.

78' KBFC Subs- Seityasen Singh and Ayush Adhikari comes in for Sahal and Jorge Diaz.

Match resumes!!

Drinks break!!

75' CFC Sub- Ninthoinganba Meetel comes in for Reagan.

75' An early cross into the box by Reagan. It is a good one but Khabra gets the slightest of touches to send the ball out for a corner.

72' KBFC Sub- Prasanth Karuthadathkuni on for Puitea.

71' A great delivery into the box by Thapa from a CFC freekick. Slavko is the first to get to it but fails to hit the target. It wouldn't have mattered if he did because the referee blows his whistle for offside.

68' Shot- Mirlan Murzaev has a pop from distance but the ball kept rising. It is a KBFC goalkick.

68' CFC Subs- Edwin Vanspaul replaces Germanpreet.

67' A good attacking move by Kerala. It ends with Sahal trying to set up Vazquez for the shot but the Spanish forward cannot make a decent connection with the ball.

62' KBFC loses possession right outside its box and Koman pounces on the loose ball. He does well to shield the ball but takes too much time in finding a teammate. The chance is gone.

59' Reagan sends in a decent ball from the right flank. Anirudh Thapa rises to head the ball but cannot get a clear connection as Kerala clears.

56' Booking- KBFC's Puitea (Lalthathanga) sees yellow for diving inside the CFC box.

54' Thapa with a surging run inside the KBFC box. He takes a tumble and hopefully looks at the referee for a penalty but Crystal John says nothing doing.

50' Close- Jessel Carneiro hits the crossbar. Luna set the ball up for him really well with some unselfish play.

46' CFC Subs- Lukasz Gikiewicz and Salam Singh replace Koman and Chhangte.

And we are underway!!

Half-time | A comfortable 2-0 lead is what Kerala Blasters has now courtesy two slick goals from Jorge Diaz and Sahal Abdul Samad. Chennaiyin had one juicy chance in the 29th minute when Germanpreet Singh made a mess of what could have otherwise been an easy leveller. CFC struggled to clear its line again and gave a feisty Kerala side far too much space than it should have. CFC needs to regroup and take to this second half with a clear head. Entertaining half of football nevertheless.

45' Oh chance again for Vazquez and he does well to get to the CFC half but is denied. A goal there would have been salt on CFC's wounds. The defense survives, barely so.

Broadcast cameras quickly pan to Germanpreet. Should have taken the opportunity to make it 1-1 when he could.

38' GOAL! SAHAL SCORES AND IT'S 2-0 TO THE BLASTERS. Vishal Kaith just cannot clear his lines and pays for it dearly. Kaith's clearance falls to Vazquez who then sends in a nice through ball for Sahal who just has to keep a calm head and send this to the back of the net. Third goal of the season for Sahal and he's hungry for more.

PKL ALERT!!

29'
Oh chance for CFC as the Blue shirts charge down on the counter. Germanpreet has an opportunity to get one in, but he can't repeat his heroics from the previous game. Mirlan runs down the left, beating a bunch of players in yellow. He sends in a neat cross to Germanpreet who is coming down the centre but German ends up getting the position all wrong - the ball straying away from the post on the left.  He is going to be kicking himself. Drinks .

28' Luna showing his brilliance yet again by picking out Diaz with an inch-perfect cross from the right. Diaz does not have the best of connections with his head as the ball rolls out for a goalkick.

25' Save- A great save by Gill to deny CFC an equaliser as a lightning-fast header by Germanpreet came at him from a CFC corner.

23' Thapa with a nice switch of flank as he sends a long ball to Jerry on the left but the latter cannot control the ball. It is a KBFC throw-in.

21' A stunning ball by Luna to find Vazquez inside the box. The forward takes it down well but the angle is not favourable for the shot. He tries to backheel it to a teammate but ends up conceding possession.

18' A great searching ball by Sahal from the right flank. Diaz cannot reach the ball in time to make contact.

14' Germanpreet has caught Khabra and it is a KBFC corner. No card shown.

12' Offside- Murzaev's shot hits the underside of the crossbar and comes back into play but play stops as the referee blows his whistle for offisde.

9' GOOAAALLL!!! KERALA TAKES THE LEAD!! ITS IS JORGE DIAZ!! Diaz, who was playing right at the shoulder of Slavko, was sent clear on goal courtesy of a brilliant chipped-ball by Lalthathanga. Clear on goal, he maintained his calm to slot the ball home past Kaith at the far-post.

8' Reagan trying to expand the width of play by attempting a pass to Murzaev on the right flank. However, his pass is overhit and it is a KBFC throw.

6' It is Kerala with a couple of half chances in these opening minutes. It will need to work hard to get past the resolute Chennaiyin defence.

2' An early Kerala long ball deep into CFC's half, forces a good header away by Narayan Das.

MATCH PREVIEW: ISL: Chennaiyin FC aims to continue winning run against Kerala Blasters

Former champions Chennaiyin FC will aim to carry on the winning run when it takes on Kerala Blasters FC in Match 38 of the Indian Super League match at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here on Wednesday.

Chennaiyin bounced back with a 2-1 victory in its last match which also helped it get back into the top four in the standings with 11 points.

The Blasters, on the other hand, with two wins, a loss and three draws, will be keen to build on a superb win over Mumbai City FC in the previous match and increase its tally from the current 9.

Chennaiyin FC’s head coach Bozidar Bandovic is aware of the challenges the Blasters pose, but is confident in his unit, saying they have developed a winning mentality.

“My players are very strong mentally. They show good attitude in every game and don’t give up till the end. This is how I like to build a team. Each team has their strengths and we need to use ours to win the games," Bandovic said at the online media interaction ahead of the game.

Chennaiyin holds an edge over the team from Kerala when it comes to the head-to-head record as it has emerged victorious on six occasions in its last 16 ISL meetings.

Kerala Blasters, on the other hand, has managed to win three while seven games have ended in draws.

"They (KBFC) are a good team and have secured a good win a couple of days ago. We need to have a good balance in attacking and defending. You need to prepare yourself according to the opponents. Like other teams, they also have strong individuals that we need to take care of," Bandovic said.

The CFC coach spoke about the importance of putting pressure on the opponents by creating chances and said, "It means nothing to me if you are playing attacking and not making chances. In most of the games we were dangerous as we created chances. If you see statistics, it will tell you clearly. For me, creating chances is more important. We will score goals".

The Blasters will be brimming with confidence after a hammering of the defending champions MCFC and coach Ivan Vukomanovic will be hoping the team continues in the same vein and that Sahal Abdul Samad can cause similar damage against CFC.

He would also be hoping the defence can keep the opposition strikers in check like the other teams.
