Arjun Kapoor new co-owner at FC Pune City

Indian super League (ISL) side FC Pune City announced Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor as the club's new co-owner on Thursday.

FC Pune City announced actor Arjun Kapoor as the new co-owner of the club. Gaurav Modwel, CEO, explained:  “He is not only a youth icon but also a footballer at heart, passion for the sport is well known and his involvement with the club will give an impetus to us to connect with a larger audience across the state as well as nationally.”

Indian Super League franchise from Pune is the only club to have a residential academy set up, three junior teams (U-18; U-16; U-14) and a women’s side. New co-owner Arjun Kapoor said: “I have grown up watching and playing the sport, still actively play with my friends who also are co-owners at various clubs in ISL.”

He added: “Pune City as a club is doing tremendous work with football and seemed a natural fit for me in their endeavour to develop a professional setup across Maharashtra.”

FCPC is Pune’s first team in ISL and based at Balewadi sports complex. Serbian Ranko Popovic is team head coach this season, recruited in place of Antonio Habas from Spain.
