Fresh from the success of beating Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League final to lift the title on Saturday, Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory said his team will give its best in the upcoming inaugural Super Cup. Chennaiyin will take on I-League side Aizawl FC on March 31 in the Round-of-16 stage in Bhubaneshwar.

"We shall be preparing the best way we can for the Super Cup.

At the moment, it's a one-off game we have so we will prepare accordingly," said Gregory, on the sidelines of the press conference here at Hyatt Regency on Sunday.

After the final, Gregory said he will be ringing in the changes to manage the workload of the long football season. "Most of our boys are contracted here, so it's not really an issue with us. We knew that the competition is coming at the end of the season, so the contracts were dated to make sure all our players are still here. Obviously, the foreign allowance is six so we will send a couple of the players home. We will treat the competition with utmost respect and do our best we can. The fans will now be saying 'Go win the Super Cup because you have won the ISL'. That comes with success. You are expected to win every competition you enter once you have had the success," said the Englishman.

He also gave his thoughts on his side's Super Cup opponent Aizawl, which will be managed by Santosh Kashyap. "We played them in a pre-season game last year in our training camp and we beat them 1-0. They are a good team, they won the I-League the year before. We are looking forward to it; it will be a tough game I am sure. But we will respect the competition and give it our best shot," he said.
