Chhetri is a livewire when his team is on the offence, both as a creator and a finisher. Amrinder is consistent performer under the bar at every level when given opportunities.

Mumbai City FC head coach Alexandre Guimaraes wishes that Sunil Chhetri and Amrinder Singh return to the squad after going all the way in AFC Cup for Bengaluru FC (BFC). “The energy both players will bring to our team will be tremendous, if they can continue winning.” He was referring to BFC victory in the AFC Cup semi-final the day before.

Chhetri is a livewire when his team is on the offence, both as a creator and a finisher. Amrinder is consistent performer under the bar at every level when given opportunities.

Chhetri and Amrinder have been missing in the MCFC line-up so far in Hero ISL 2016. The head coach, managing the resources without the two first-team players, called up both after the AFC Cup match. “I feel happy for them. It is good for the growth of Indian football,” said the former Costa Rican World Cupper, expressing confidence in the players available for ISL third season.

He explained: “This problem (Bengaluru FC players busy with AFC Cup) was there during preparation. We have to handle the situation. The team (MCFC) has backup to wait till they (Chhetri, Amrinder) join the squad.”

Two Chhetri strikes inspred BFC to a 3-1 semi-final win over Malaysian side Johor Darul Taa’zim in the Asian club competition. Chhetri ran the show for MFC last season, Amrinder joined the squad for iSL season three.
