“It is more important to win against one of the favourite teams for the title," Carlos said after his team Delhi Dynamos defeated Chennayin FC 1-0.

Delhi Dynamos coach Roberto Carlos pointed to the heat for his team to have to cut down its pace and wait for the counter-attacks in the second half of its Indian Super League (ISL) match against FC Chennaiyin at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday.

“This is normal in this heat. We had to play on counter-attacks in the second half,” said Carlos in the post-match press conference.

The Brazilian conceded his side could have scored more goals had it adopted a more composed approach. But he had no issues since Dynamos ended up as the winning side. “I am happy with 1-0. Had we won 5-0 we would have got same points.

“It is more important to win against one of the favourite teams for the title,” said Carlos.

Terming the penalty awarded to Dynamos as 'dubious,' Chennaiyin assistant coach Vivek Nagul said Dynamos taking charge in the first 10 minutes made the difference. “Till the time we settled down they were 1-0 up. We tried too many things, but those did not work out.”

“Had we not missed chances it would have been good for us.”

Nagul said the Chennai defence played much better in the second half. “The better team lost today.”

With Fikru having fitness issues, Nagul said his team thought John Mendoza would be more effective with his speed.
