FULL-TIME: FC GOA 4-2 MUMBAI CITY

Goa made the best of the opportunities in the first half as goals from Lenny Rodrigues (27') and Corominas (45') put the visitor 2-0 ahead at half-time. Mumbai came back strongly in the second half as towering header from Sarthak (49') and a thunderbolt from Souvik Chakrabarti (55') put the home team back in the game. However, it lost steam quickly as Hugo Boumous risked a thigh injury as he scored a 59th minute header to put Goa back in the lead. Carlos Pena added further gloss to the scoreline with a wonderful flick at the far post in the 89th minute to hand FC Goa a 4-2 win. The win takes FC Goa to the top of the table while Mumbai City, after two back-to-back 4-2 losses, stays at fifth in the ISL 2019-20 table.

90+4' Goa runs out the clock as the backline knocks the ball around and the Gaurs go back with sixth win in seven games against Mumbai and go to top of the table with eight points from four matches.

90+1' Mumbai looks battered and the clock is running out for the host. It is a similar scoreline at the Mumbai Football Arena after it lost to newcomer Odisha FC in the previous game.

89' GOA SCORES THE FOURTH! Carlos Pena gets Goa's fourth. Its a low free-kick from Brandon as the central defender gives the ball slightest of touches to direct it into the net.

88' Edu Bedia gets the ball in the centre and tries to get to the byline on the right. He draws a foul from substitute Pramjil.

86' Wasteful from Mumbai. The host wins a free-kick in a good position on the left, but Larbi overhits his delivery which sails into the crowd.

84' Mumbai tries to find a way through the right flank but Goa manages to close down the space before Larbi can get into the box.

82' Manvir plays an excellent ball to Seriton on the right who cuts it back to the Indian international who pulls the trigger from a tight angle. Amrinder dives to his right but Manvir's shot was nowhere near the goal.

80' Raynier is off as Bidyananda Singh replaces him in the middle. Seriton hits a low cross from the right but Sartak kicks it away for a corner.

78' Jahouh goes to the ground after being tackled by Surchandra as Goa wins a corner kick. However, Sartak does well to clear the danger.

76' Corominas goes down in the box after coming under a challenge from Pratik, but the referee says play on.

74' Machado comes off for Mumbai as the captain makes way for Pranjal Bhumij. Goa takes off Jackichand to send in Manvir Singh.

72' Sartak clears away a cross from the left which falls for Jahouh. The midfielder goes for an audacious strike from the outside the box but his strike is way off the target.

70' Souvik goes into the referee's book for a petulant challenge on Brandon. He is lucky to get away with an yellow card for a studs on lunge at the Goa forward.

68' Bipin Singh comes off for Mumbai to make way for former Real Kashmir FC forward Surchandra Singh makes

63' Boumous is stretchered off the pitch as he seems to have hurt his thigh in the process of scoring the third goal. Edu Bedia is the new man in.

59' GOA BACK IN THE FRONT! Goa executes a superb set-piece from a free-kick far outside the box. Mourtada heads the delivery at the far post where Boumous times his jump to perfection to beat the goalkeeper.  The Frenchman has injured himself in the process as he clatters into the post after heading it in.

55' EQUALISER! What a strike from Souvik! The fullback collects a rolling ball and unleashes an absolute rocket from outside the box as Nawaz stays rooted in his place.  Game on!

53' Nawaz comes serious pressure from Chermiti trying to get rid off a back pass from Seriton as the Goa custodian gives away a corner kick.

49' GOAL MUMBAI! Machado gets a save out of Nawaz and Larbi finds Sartak at the far post with the corner kick. The defender has no one to mark him and comfortably beats the goalkeeper with a powerful header at the far post. Great start to the second half from the host.

48' Mumbai wins a corner but Larbi's delivery flies over the crowded box. Sartak, however, manages to keep the ball in the play but gives the possession away to Goa.

46' Bomous and Machado tussle for the ball in the middle as the Mumbai captain dispossess his marker. Mandar races away with the ball on the left and pulls the trigger from outside the box which is far away from the post.

HALF-TIME: MUMBAI 0-2 GOA

Mumbai began the match strongly pressing higher up the pitch. However, the host's attacking threat waned as the first half progressed and Goa pounced on every opportunity. Goa's forward line constantly got into dangerous position as Mumbai's defence, Subhashish in particular, was often caught out of position to let Jackichand and Seriton make runs into the box from the right wing.

45+1' GOA GOAL! The Mumbai defence dozes off for a moment as Subhashish puts Seriton through who lays if off for Corominas lurking in the centre. The striker does not miss many from the angle as he buries it into the net.

44' Boumous and Brandon win back to back corners for Goa but Larbi and Chermiti are in place to clear the danger.

42' Bipin tries to find an opening as he crosses towards the far post, but Mourtada reads it well and heads away for a throw-in.

40' Jackichand comes under pressure from Souvik and pings it to Seriton on the overlap but Subhashish closes down the angle and wins the ball back.

38' Good clearance from Mourtada. Machado tries to squeeze a throughball in between the centre backs to put Chermiti clear, but Mourtada puts in a sliding tackle to hack the ball away.

36' Corominas puts Jackichand through on the right but Subashish quickly gets rid off the ball. Goa in control of the game for now.

33' Mumbai manages to get the ball near the goal, Chermiti hesitates for a second before cutting it back to Larbi who is unable to find space to shoot.

28' Close! Mumbai goes full throttle and wins a corner. Sartak gets a head to it and lays it in the path of Diego who smashes it into the side-netting.

27' GOAL GOA! Lenny Rodrigues puts the ball in the net. He takes Brandon's corner kick on his right foot and takes the shot on the volley. Amrinder gets a hand to it but couldn't help to prevent the goal.

25' Goa brings out the ball from the back as Brandon crosses towards the far post. However, his kick is too heavy for Jackichand.

22' Subhasish steals the ball from Diego and crosses it towards the right flank, but Goan defenders steal the ball back to launch another attack.

20' Goa has a spell of possession but it is unable to get past the packed midfield of the host.

18' Save! Corominas lays the ball in the path of Pena who curls the ball at the far post. However, Amrinder gets down to his left and punches it away.

16' Almost scored an own goal there, Nawaz! The Goa goalkeeper chases the ball infront of his own post and sneak it just before it crosses the line.

15' Mumbai wins another corner but the set-piece delivery is poor. Goa, however, has trouble dealing with clearance and Nawaz just manages to kick it out for a throw-in.

13' Chermiti falls to the ground after giving away the ball to Mourtada, but there was not much contact there.

12' Brandon goes down inside the area after coming under a challenge from Pratik, but the referee says play on.

9' Mumbai pressing is causing Goa all sorts of trouble for the Gaurs. However, they manage to get the ball out of their defence and put Corominas through but the forward is marginally offside.

7' Raynier takes the set piece, but his left-footed strike keeps on rising and flies away into the stands.

6' The home team has managed to choke the Goan forwardline with a high-press. Larbi wins a free kick just outside the area.

3' Bipin chests down a long ball from the deep and flashes it across the goalmouth but Fall is in position to hack it away for a Mumbai corner. However, the delivery from the corner is heavy and Goa defence mops up the loose ball.

2' Jackichand goes for a long-ranger from the left after receiving the ball from Corominas but his shot sails safely over the bar.

1' HERE WE GO! Goa begins the proceedings from left to right. Machado is quickly off with the ball but the Mumbai defence clears away the danger.

What is at stake for Mumbai and Goa?

* Last edition's finalist FC Goa is currently fourth in the table with five points from three matches and will go top of the table if it manages to beat Mumbai City FC.

* Mumbai City FC which is just a point adrift of FC Goa at fifth, will look to move to the third in the table with a victory.

* A draw will not affect the standings of both teams, but a result is more important for FC Goa which looks to break a streak of two back-to-back draws at Mumbai.

Match Preview:

An injury-plagued Mumbai City FC seeks to undo the mistakes of last season when it faces FC Goa in an Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Mumbai Football Arena on Thursday.

The two sides had met on four occasions last season, including a two-legged play-off for a spot in the final. Goa defeated Mumbai three times, scoring 12 goals in the process. The lone win (1-0) for Mumbai came in the second leg of the semifinals after Goa had won the first leg 5-1.

The host's head coach Jorge Costa could not have picked a worse time to play a team which has proved to be a thorny opposition. The Islanders come into this tie on the back of a 2-4 thrashing at home last week at the hands of Odisha FC.

Costa has a lot to ponder upon given the number of injuries, especially in defence where he is likely to miss Mato Grgic once again. The manager will most likely field an all-Indian defence which will have to be extremely cautious against the visitor's lethal attack.

Star forward Modou Sougou too has not recovered completely from his knock and that has further crippled Costa’s options in attack as well. Rowllin Borges, who picked up an injury before the Odisha game, will also miss out.

Mumbai has added 18-year-old Mohammed Asif Khan to its squad for the current edition of ISL, replacing defender Anwar Ali who is suffering from a heart problem.

Though Mumbai is known to sit back and stay organised, it has always struggled against the movement and guile of Sergio Lobera’s Goa.

However, the Gaurs are not exactly at their best this season. After a 3-0 win over Chennaiyin FC, they followed it up with hard-fought draws against Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United respectively. In fact, they needed a stoppage-time equalizer in both matches in order to at least pick up a point.

Ferran Corominas already has two goals to his name but injuries to Hugo Boumous, who has since recovered, and Edu Bedia have not helped Goa's cause.

Mumbai is also the same venue where Goa lost the ISL final last season and a return to the very same ground could evoke some unpleasant memories. Lobera would be keen to ensure that his side gets over the emotions and adds another three points to its tally.
